The story illustrates the journey of the Seminole, Creek, Choctaw, Chickasaw and Cherokee Tribes after they were displaced and forced into Reservations away from their native lands following the passing of the Indian Removal Act of 1830. Many Native Americans suffered from disease and starvation during the grueling journey.
